These terms apply to everyone who uses YellowBus, the mobile app or the website. By signing in, you accept them. The service is operated by YellowBus (“YellowBus”, “we”).
If your school or transport company has signed a separate service agreement with us, that agreement takes priority over these terms for it.
1. The service
YellowBus helps schools and transport companies run school buses, and helps parents follow their child’s trip. Depending on your role you can:
- School or company administrators (website): manage buses, runs, routes, stops, students, parents and supervisors; follow trips live; see reports.
- Supervisors (app): run the day’s trips, share the bus’s location during a trip, mark each child as boarded, dropped off, absent or no-show, and send alerts.
- Parents (app): follow their own child’s trip, receive notifications, report absences and request a pickup point.
Some features, such as the parent live map, are switched on or off by each school.
2. Accounts
- Accounts are created by invitation from the school (or by YellowBus for school administrators). You can’t sign up on your own.
- Keep your password secret. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell your school or us at once if you think someone else has used it.
- Supervisor accounts are for the named supervisor only. Do not share them with drivers or anyone else.
- The school can deactivate an account at any time, for example when a supervisor leaves or a child changes school.
3. Responsibilities of schools and transport companies
The school or transport company:
- is responsible for the data it enters, and for having the right to enter it, including informing parents and getting any consent the law requires;
- keeps the records accurate: students, parents, stops and assignments;
- decides who gets access, and removes access when someone leaves;
- remains responsible for the safety of the children and for running the buses. YellowBus is a tool that supports this. It does not replace the school’s own procedures, staff or supervision.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the service to follow, watch or contact anyone for a purpose other than the school transport;
- try to reach data that is not yours, such as another child, another family or another school;
- share screenshots or location information of other children or buses publicly;
- send false locations, false attendance marks or false alerts;
- interfere with the service: overload it, probe it for weaknesses, or copy or reverse-engineer it, except as the law allows;
- use the service while driving. The supervisor operates the app, not the driver.
We may suspend access that breaks these rules or puts children’s safety or data at risk.
5. Not an emergency service
YellowBus is not an emergency service. In an emergency, call the police, ambulance or the school directly. Alerts and notifications depend on phones, networks and third-party services, and may arrive late or not at all.
6. Locations and arrival times
- The bus location comes from the supervisor’s phone and may be delayed or inaccurate, for example with weak GPS or no mobile signal.
- Arrival times are estimates based on traffic and route data. They are not guaranteed.
- Speeding warnings are based on the phone’s GPS speed and are meant to help the school review trips. They are not official measurements.
7. Availability and changes
We work to keep YellowBus available and secure, but we cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. We may carry out maintenance, and we may change, add or remove features. For important changes that affect schools, we will give notice where reasonably possible.
8. Your content and data
- The data that schools and users enter remains theirs. We use it only to provide the service, as described in our Privacy Policy.
- The YellowBus name, logo, app and website belong to us. You may use them only to use the service.
9. Fees
Use of the service by schools and transport companies is under their subscription with YellowBus. Parents and supervisors do not pay to use the app.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows:
- the service is provided “as is”;
- we are not liable for indirect losses, or for losses caused by delayed or wrong locations, notifications or arrival times, by phones or networks, or by how the school runs its transport;
- our total liability to a school is limited to the fees it paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
11. Ending use
- You can stop using the app at any time. Ask your school to remove your account.
- The school can end its subscription under its agreement with us.
- We may suspend or end access that breaks these terms.
- When a school leaves, its data is handled as described in the Privacy Policy.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Arab Republic of Egypt. Disputes go to the competent courts of Cairo, unless the school’s agreement with us says otherwise.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will post the new version here with its effective date and, for important changes, tell users in the app or by email. If you keep using the service after that, you accept the new terms.
